It is particularly suitable for the measurement of inorganic fibrous particles such as asbestos, men-made mineral fibres (MMMF) and other inorganic fibres in indoor air and outside air according to VDI 3492 and ISO 14966 with a volume flow of 8 l/min.
Furthermore it is suitable for steady state sampling of inhalable and respirable dust with a volume flow of 10 l/min. For a very short sampling time of maximum 2 hours, it is technically possible to perform the sampling with the sampling device in the extended temperature range of -5°C to 50°C. This can lead to an overload of the device, so that in case of a damage of the device no warranty is taken over.
The sampler SG12 has been developed for the steady state sampling of gases and dusts when high volume flows are needed and high flow resistance must be overcome, in particular for fibre measurement according to VDI 3492. The suction tube and suction curved tubes enable the necassary sampling at a height of 1.2 to 1.5m.
With the sampling curved tube is a measurement in the level of breath possible.
The sampler is equipped with a powerful rotary vane pump, which generates a nearly pulsation-free vacuum and can overcome high flow resistances. The sampler is easy to operate and covers a wide adjustable flow range from approx. 3.5 to 10 l/min without any gap. The requirements on a constant volume flow with changing flow resistance with fault indication and automatic shut-off are fulfilled through the automatic volume flow regulation over the complete range.

The sampler SG12 is equipped with a rotary vane pump which produces an almost pulsation-free vacuum. The desired volume flow is adjustable between approx. 2 - 12 l/min. The selected volume flow remains sufficiently constant over the sampling duration. This is ensured by the installed volume flow regulation which compensates the otherwise usual decrease of volume flow as a result of an increased flow resistance (e.g. filter resistance) or changed operating voltage. The sampling parameters are programmable and are readable on the 2x8 digits LCD display. The keys can be locked. In case the pump cannot maintain the selected volume flow as a result of too much flow resistance, the device will switch off. The runtime of the pump up to switch-off is stored, so that the sampling duration can be read later. The complete operation sequence and the regulation are controlled by a microprocessor. The reasons for switching-off will be shown at the display.
